Bill, a botanist performing research for East State University, and his wife, Mary, stay in a cabin deep in a pine forest. She is a photographer and came along to take pictures. The husband leaves with his pick-up truck and plans to be back the next day. Later that day, a runaway convict surprises Mary while out in the forest, taking pictures. The convict takes her back to the cabin. He waits for the husband to return so to steal his truck. When the convict realizes she has lied to him about her husband returning in a few hours, he loses his temper and strikes her. The woman crumples to the floor.
Bill senses that something is wrong and decides to head back to the cabin. The convict gathers some provisions and takes off into the forest where he encounters some wild animals. He panics and returns to the cabin where he is relieved that the woman is OK. She begins to talk to him about his family. She then ministers to him, telling him that she forgives him because God forgave us through the sacrifice of his only son. The husband arrives with the police, and the convict decides to give himself up after the woman convinces him that his actions can only add to the long list of regrets in his life. The film ends with a great message and a couple of twists.
